D'Addario is one of the greatest and most prolific string makers in the world today. In addition to their immensely popular guitar strings, D'Addario produces some of the most respected student and professional violin strings on the market today.

Brought to the United States by Italian immigrants, the D'Addario family's history as string makers in Italy can be traced back as early as 1680 in the town of Salle, a hub of early gut string making in Italy. Starting in New York in 1918, D'Addario has grown to be a world-class maker of strings for most stringed instruments.
